The kitchen smells awesome today as the Corned Beef is slowly braising in the oven. I’m looking forward to diving into a bowl with extra horseradish! This year, we are again serving Wigley’s Brisket from Detroit. The Wigley family has been in Eastern Market since 1924, they say their recipe for the brine has been around since the 1880’s. That’s a long tradition! It will be weird to not be here Sunday enjoying St. Patrick’s Day with you. We’ll play Irish music on the radio, we’ll be wearing green, pouring green beer and we will try to make it as festive as possible. I’ll be curious where our St. Pats revelers will end up on Sunday. I look forward to hearing your stories.
What goes better with Corned Beef than an ice-cold beer? Wednesday, Bartender Tori went down to Detroit MGM Grand to the annual Beer & Wine Trade Tasting. She took Chefs Max & Zach for “moral support”. They got the chance to try over 200 different beers and wines from around the world. I’m sure we’ll see some new beers on tap… if they remember what they tasted!?! Hopefully our new keg cooler (the old one died) is installed Friday morning as promised… we sure have missed having Draft Beer selections the last few weeks. Sláinte, Sharon
