Niki, Pico and Picasso are well and frisky. The pups love poking around in the leaf cover and my big guy is amazingly fun to ride and very affectionate, which can be overwhelming, physically for me, at times. He loves his face and forehead to be rubbed and tends to lean into my scratching so hard that I’m backed into the stall wall and have to push 1400 pounds off of me. Then he’ll start “grooming” me, licking my hands and nudging me. I feel honored that I’m one of his “buds” as that is an everyday ritual for the horses together in the paddock. I’ve had horses for many years and Picasso is a “horse of another color” for certain. A charmer, “looker,” and he certainly respects and cares for me on a level I’ve never experienced. Thank
God for my pets.
Halloween is the celebration of the Eve of Saints. The tradition of “trick or treating” is an implication of a threat (trick) if the home owner doesn’t offer a treat. JACK-o- LANTERNS and haunted houses along with horror films are attractions. The word dates to 1745 and marks the end of harvest and beginning of winter or “the darker half of the year.” I hope not. Today I listened to a very lively and interesting discussion of the book The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving on www.thedianerehmshow.org . I know that I’ve read the book somewhere along the line but after hearing the show want to revisit it, remembering Icabod and the headless horseman. Irving is one of the best selling American authors of all times and his personal life intriguing. BOO….
Our fall menu debuts this weekend with some nice food and wine changes.
You’ve asked for the Fried Clam Strips and here they are. Flat Breads have been up-dated for the season with a Creamed Kale, Butternut Squash and Bacon selection along with my favorite Black Bean, Cheddar and Jalapeno. Warm Blue Cheese Dip with Bacon Almonds and Corn Tortilla Chips, Smoked Whitefish Spread and a Jar of BBQ Peanuts with a few Michigan Sun-Dried Cherries tossed in round out a few of the changes.
Sharon’s also got great Chalk Board Features. See them by click here
