I can’t begin with my usual “fine” week, as our dear, sweet Travis, long time kitchen crew member (2013) lost the love of his life, Liz, suddenly on Monday. It has been a tough go for all of us. We are a sad family right now. It is amazing for me to see the love and kindness that has emanated from this incredible group of people, not related by any heritage, but by being part of each other esoterically. This quote from one of my favorite authors, Richard Bach, says it all --

All else is good around the Bistro. It has been bustling and, mostly we’ve been able to get 90% of the food and drink that we order. At the end of Saturday nights though it is very unusual that there we are not “86’d” lots of the fish and specials. Because we close Sunday and Monday Sharon has to make decisions to order just enough but not too much. If we run out, oh well. We want to start fresh on Tuesday, not old from Saturday. Another Covid dictate. Thanks everyone for understanding.
I had a couple of great cultural trips into Detroit this week. Sunday, Phil, Molly and I went to see SUMMER, The Donna Summer Musical. It was so fun to learn about her life and hear old favorites like “Love to Love You Baby,” “Bad Girls,” “Hot Stuff,” and “Last Dance.” Known as the Disco Queen many of us can remember dancing nights away to her tunes. And last night Roz and I went to a Detroit Institute of Arts event that highlights women artists in Italy 1500-1800. It was “gently” attended, thanks to the downpour of rain, but that worked to the advantage of those of us who braved the drive. I was blown away by the art and stories behind the artists. I would venture to say that you would not know one of them, I didn’t. All I can say is WOW. I’m speaking as a woman now with my critique... they are so much better, no, maybe different, then the male artists of that time. Soft, detailed, sensual, realistic; no hiding imperfections and extremely powerful. I’m going back to do the audio tour and would recommend it highly. https://www.dia.org/byherhand
