GREETINGS FROM THE BISTRO!
And, another fine week once again! The weather has been near perfect the last few days and, as such, I was able to spend some quality time in the garden. It is mostly weeded, grass cut and plants dead-headed. I’ll need to do one more mow before the 4th and then be able to enjoy the day with my family. I will say that the fountains have been a challenge this year… one isn’t holding water. I thought marine epoxy around the drain would work, it didn’t, and another has a spout that is clogged. An, easy fix, but “just one more thing.” They are all nice and sparkly though. Hopefully I figure it out and am able to sit back and enjoy them over the holiday. Niki and Pico love sprawling out on the warm driveway and watch me work then “help” feed the birds. I have to keep Maddie tethered on a long line as I still don’t trust she won’t go missing on one of her exploratory missions. Heaven forbid she gets lost… she’s so darn cute and agreeable. All three are food driven, go figure, but never get table fare, only their daily ration and healthy treats. It “kills” me not to shower them with an occasional tidbit of people protein or a dollop of Dairy Queen but we would all pay the price. And, not a pretty one. Picasso and Z are digging the weather as they graze all day, if it isn’t over 80, on some very green grass. They both have fans on their stalls which will be on full blast the next couple of days to help cool them off. Both get a cool spray down after riding and have salt licks to encourage drinking lots of water to re-hydrate. They are such great boys. Lucky horses, pups and LKYGRL!!!

As we draw close to the 4th of July, the 243rd birthday of our great nation, let’s remember that it is not just another day off but a holiday commemorating our independence, then only 13 colonies, from the Kingdom of Great Britain in 1776. Thomas Jefferson was the principal author of the Declaration of Independence which was signed by 56 others including John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Adams, John Hancock and John Penn. The youngest signer was Edward Rutledge at age 26 and the oldest Ben Franklin at age 70. Two of the signers became president, John Adams, our second, and, Thomas Jefferson our third. Ironically both Adams and Franklin died on the same day, 7-4-1826. James Monroe died on 7-4-1831 and Calvin Coolidge, our 30th president, was born on 7-4-1872. Equally important this Fourth is to remember all who have died protecting our freedom and all those who have served in the past or now. Without their dedication and devotion to the liberty of all we would not be living the American Dream.
