For those of you who were not here for our Jena’s musical performance… sorry!... You missed a lovely evening. Jena has a bluesy voice that sounds like a smooth cognac served with a side of soul in a smokey jazz club. She did some original tunes along with some current hits and a few oldies. One of my favorites was Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie”. Her voice fits that groove perfectly. Love her AND her amazing talent! Thank you, Jena, you are a star!
I love creative people and try to surround myself with art, artist, books and nature whenever I can. I joined my sister Karen’s book club. I have to video in as they are in Scotland, but it was fun to discuss the book. With the time difference I was taking a break from working while they enjoyed dinner and wine. Needless to say, I was jealous. Our book was “Remarkably Bright Creatures”. A quick read that took me away from my daily brain over thinking anxieties that usually fill my head. The group all liked the book, some found it to be too light and unrealistic with a typical Hollywood ending. I found it to be a sweet story with a happy ending and sometimes, that is just the fix I need. We all agreed our first book “Demon Copperhead” was much better. Speaking of art, I try to keep myself educated and challenged so my bestie Sara and I signed up for a pottery class last Sunday. THROW Ann Arbor hosts a 2-hour wheel class. Sounded fun and simple. We even joked about recreating the scene in Ghost for giggles. But lordy we were both concentrating so hard. I was bent over that damn wheel like my life depended on it. I thought I had the technique down and just when I would try to work the clay up a little higher it would flop down and turn into a plate or fly off in a giant chunk. If you would like a sense of what I’m talking about click on the YouTube link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1gb5P0izr0 Even though our creations were not what we had envisioned the night would bring, I think it was a fun outing. We laughed more than we sculpted, and we ate and drank more than we learned, but who cares… its about spending time with my bestie, and that always makes me happy. Cheers, Sharon
