Thanks to everyone who graced our Bistro doors last Memorial Weekend. I had thought it might be a quiet weekend with the holiday, but between the rain and my note about “you should come in without a reservation, we’ll be quiet” we had a super weekend. We appreciate your loyalty and support!

Sunday, Michael and I went to a BBQ in St Clair Shores. Michael’s band Grommet was the “house band”. Chek out the video below if you want to hear a lighter version of his usual hard rocking band. This was their little warm up diddy before they really got grooving. My contribution to the day was a green salad. When it comes to making a salad don’t forget about texture… mine had crispy chickpeas and toasted pistachios tossed along with roasted beets, fresh peas, spicy roasted carrots and feta cheese. A quick and easy vinaigrette anyone can make is the standard 3 parts oil to 1 part acid… I boost mine with a little extra acid (usually lemon juice), a raw shallot, lots of fresh herbs (a little mint goes a long way) and the tiniest hint of mustard or spice… throw it all in the bender with lots of salt and black pepper. Easy peasy.

Monday, we stayed home, enjoyed our yard with Brisket and lazily snacked the day away with a complimentary rosé. I finished an excellent book, The God of the Woods.

Congrats to all our 2026 graduates here at the Bistro… Moe’s daughter Bella graduated from Garden City HS and Alida’s daughter Leslie from Walled Lake HS. Both girls will be heading to college in the fall. My niece Claire, graduated from U of M with a degree in Film, Television and Media in the Screenwriting Program. Congrats ladies, best of luck in your future endeavors!!!
