Happy Passover to those celebrating this week and Happy upcoming Easter for Sunday. I remember the days we used to do Sunday Brunch here at the Bistro… although it was delicious, I do not miss being open early in the morning with an entirely different menu for one service! I am, however, happy to be hosting Easter Brunch this Sunday at our home. Michael and I missed Passover this year as we were both working. But speaking of Brunches, we did get a chance to catch the last Brunch service at Coriander Kitchen before they changed their hours for the summer season.

I love this gem of a restaurant on the Canals of the Detroit River. There really is no other location like Coriander in Michigan. Female owned, they started from a little pop-up truck at the old marina add to my admiration for the restaurant. The salads are super fresh as they have their own farm and sitting at the tables alongside the canal and in the greenhouse, sipping their Farm Margarita, make for a lovely afternoon.
After Brunch, Michael and I cruised Jefferson, one of my favorite drives. I love looking at the magnificent houses through Grosse Pointe, the quirky neighborhoods along the canals and some of the historical neighborhoods in the Jefferson Chalmers area. We stopped to see the alleged restoration of the old Boblo Boat, but we were chased off as I “guess” it’s not open to the public. We drove up and down the Joseph Berry subdivision where the Manoogian Mansion is located, pulling out the Zillow App to see what was affordable in this hodgepodge of a neighborhood. Unless it’s an empty lot or an abandoned home (which there were a few), not much was in our price range. Kid Rock sold his waterfront home there in 2019 for 2.2 million. We drove down to Belle Isle and made a loop around the island to finish off the afternoon. When the weather is nicer, we will head back for a riverside picnic. Click the photo gallery to see our afternoon and if you can, please recommend your favorite drive to me, I’d love that! It’s a great way to kill an afternoon without spending a dime. Pop in some tunes and just go.

Cheers,
Sharon
