My mom, Sandra, is 80 as of the 4th, and Michael and I are celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary on the same day. Getting married on your mom’s birthday may not be for every bride, but Sandra let me have my special day and she continues to always say “we can celebrate later, you spend the day with your honey”. That’s my mom though, always thinking of others before herself. At 80 years old she has lived a full life and continues to do so. An amazing career as a nurse for over 50 years, a loving husband (gone too soon), 3 daughters who she raised with unconditional love, grandchildren to spoil, a lifetime of traveling (she has visited nearly every state in America and many locations overseas) and a great boyfriend who loves and supports her. Happy Birthday Mom! I love you and look forward to celebrating with you.
 
Michael has put up with me and I with him for 28 years. Wow. I can’t believe that’s over half my life with this special man. He makes me laugh, pushes me to be my best, is a true partner in every sense, brings me coffee in bed every morning and loves me more than anyone (Brisket is stiff competition). Our wedding was in Northport, Michigan, one of my favorite places. We got married under our homemade wedding chuppah on the beach by a dear friend holding the New York Times Cookbook, surrounded by our closest friends and family. Glasgow Joe serenaded us with a song Michael had written for me. My Pickled Hens helped decorate and did my flowers. My bestie, Sara, worked her butt off in the kitchen. My sisters made my wedding cake and more. Nearly every person there participated in our wedding in some way. We all worked on the food, drinks, music and decorations together. The entire weekend Michael and I were surrounded in love. I still feel that way today.
