Having the entire family in town means I’ve been busy busy busy! I’m enjoying every moment. When the Scots are in town it seems we all make a greater effort to be together, so I get the chance to catch up with my busy college aged niece and nephew as well as my family from across the pond.

We’ve had lots of grilled dinners on my patio or my mom’s, where we often end up playing games or just relaxing together. But we’ve made quite a few excursions out as well. Southwest Detroit for Vintage shopping followed by a walk along the Detroit River front. Movie night in Ann Arbor at the historic Michigan Theatre. A BBQ and pool day for the 4th. Wonderful sushi lunch at Adachi in Birmingham to celebrate Karen’s birthday. Kayaking the Huron River… my niece Elsa skipped that, she’s not a water bug like the rest of my family, even my mom Sandra went down the cascades, as did Brisket! My nieces and I checked out the Oddities & Curiosities show at the Suburban Showcase… it was “odd” but fun. We had a “pass the canvas along” painting party. Both of my nieces, Claire & Elsa, are excellent artists… they did not get their talent from me.

On Monday the Scots and I went for a drive along the east coast of Michigan. The rain was with us in the morning so we did some thrift store shopping where I found another Bob Ross style painting that Elsa and I will “doctor” up. One painting is currently hanging in the hallway here at the Bistro that we did last summer. We drove up to Lexington, had a Spanish style picnic on the beach and took the long way home along the coast to Marine City, stopping in Point Huron to see the oldest lighthouse in Michigan. A great way to waste a day away looking at the water and the pretty houses along the route. Last night my sisters and crew went to see The Moth in Ann Arbor. If you’ve never been to a Moth reading it is a great night of storytelling, you can also listen to the Moth Podcast on NPR.

Whatever you’re doing this summer, remember, it is always more fun when you’re with the ones you love.

Cheers,
Sharon

Hi Sharon,
I don't know how often you look at these posts, I am wondering if there is a schedule time for Glasgow Joe to perform this evening? I am planning on going, just trying to get some info. Thank you.
