The Hens and I celebrated our friend Lisa a few weeks ago for her birthday. We started our afternoon at Brine in Grosse Pointe with a beautiful Chablis from Burgundy, a great match with our Oysters on the Half Shell. A shared Crab Cake & Smoked Whitefish were the perfect starters for us. Brine is a mostly seafood restaurant with a New Orleans vibe. The food and service were excellent and it’s a very pretty restaurant. They used to have Jazz on Saturday and Sunday, but I haven’t seen that on their website lately. 
 
After our snacks we headed to Cadieux Café. Since 1933 this Belgian establishment has been serving the best mussels, frites and beer alongside the feather bowling lanes in the back of the bar. Super fun afternoon rolling our “cheese” wheels down the lane, closest to the feather scores the point. Cadieux added a patio a few years back and on many afternoons/nights you can catch a great band. If you haven’t been to this iconic Detroit neighborhood bar, I suggest you get there soon. It’s worth the drive.
 
Speaking of driving, Michael and I took a pretty drive through Franklin and ended up walking Brisket in the Douglas Evans Nature Preserve. Nice trail meandering around the Rouge River.
 
I hope everyone is having a nice Spring Break and whether you’re celebrating Passover this week or looking forward to Easter I hope you spend this time with family and friends. The two things that make any occasion a special occasion.
