Last Sunday some of the staff and I went out to Blake’s Cider Mill in South Lyon. I had not been out there since it was Erwin Farms a few years ago. Blake’s did a great job of making it very family friendly so for the first time we included DJB kids in our adventure.

Amanda brought her little Lotus and her nieces Kimberly & Jasmine. Lotus is a chatter box at nearly 5 years old, adorable and charming. Kimberly, or Kaz as she likes to go by, is wise beyond her 14 years. She has typical teenage sarcastic humor, but it is delivered with sweetness and intelligence. She’s an old soul with a punk edge to her. I felt that way at her age. Jasmine (10) is the spitting image of her big sister Isabelle and is just as sassy. Girl cracks me up! I think she will be a star one day, she’s got tons of charisma.

Isabelle brought her 4 children. Jeremiah (11) great smile, chatty and very funny… he will be a charmer when he grows up! Samayah, with her big heart and sass to match was a hoot and stepped in whenever her brother spoke to me to clarify (aka correct) anything he said. She took care of Brisket while I was socializing. Maybe she will be a vet when she grows up? Charnaire, the most quiet of the four kids is a real sweety. I can tell she is a nurturer as she liked to play with the littlest girls. All of Isabelle’s kids are incredibly well behaved, but not afraid to look you in the eye, chat you up and maybe poke a little fun at you. Her kids are some of the most beautiful children I have ever seen. All of them have their mama’s big smile and Isabelle’s baby girl, Mariah, (almost 3) is lucky enough to have her eyelashes too! I’m jealous! I just want to add that Mariah is very afraid of dogs but by the end of the day Brisket was ALMOST able to give her a kiss (I must brag about my good baby girl too!)

Alida’s two daughters Lesley and Alexa (10) are both so pretty, they look exactly like little Alidas! Lesley was kind enough to grace us with her presence… she’s 15 after all, and I’m sure has more important things to do than hang with little kids but she was gracious and unlike most 15-year-olds, never used her phone. Very polite and smart young lady. Alexa hung around a bit longer and even played king of the mountain with us on the hay bales. She’s a brave girl hanging out with a crowd she does not know very well and fits in nicely with our group. She had a big smile the whole day!

Jessica’s daughter Allicia (6) has the cutest little voice, I just love it! She is smart as a whip and always happy. She literally gets excited if you ask her anything. She’s very animated… I wonder where she gets that from?!?!  I almost got Allicia in trouble. Jessica wanted to go home, and I made Allicia run off with me into the corn maze. I told her I was the boss of Jessica, so mommy had to listen to me! Her little face lit up and she and I giggled and giggled while we ran away holding hands. Let me add she figured out the maze in like 4 minutes.

I don’t want to forget my Nerd Pack, as I affectionately call them. Tori, Mariah, Michelle & Brian. We all enjoyed the hard cider Blake’s offers, the farm animals and I think they got a kick out of the kids too! Michelle almost lost her life trying to beat me up the hay bales… sorry Michelle… there can only be one queen of the mountain.

Cheers,
Sharon
