Bistro New Newsletter
January 5, 2024

I hope everyone had a great New Years! Thanks to everyone who came out early to celebrate with us here at the Bistro! My NYE was fun and fairly relaxing. Michael & I met my bestie and her husband at Mon Jin Lau for sushi and champagne. We made it a late lunch in hopes of having an even later dinner of Surf & Turf and hopefully staying up until midnight. I think we made it until 11:30… at midnight, the fireworks made our dog a little nervous, so she woke us up and we did have our midnight kiss after all. Thank you, Brisket!

NYD was our party. My theme this year was CHAMPAGNE and breakfast for dinner. We did our usual tradition of Latkes & my Homemade Lox. I prepared Shrimp & White Cheddar Grits, Korean Fried Chicken with Ginger Waffles & Asian Chili Crunch, Mushroom Quiche & Croque Monsieur Pinwheels. My friend, Dusty made his amazing Dill Deviled Eggs & Bestie Sara brought back Champagne Jello with an upgrade of Mimoso to it. We built a fire outside, most people watched the game (GO BLUE), we had live music in the basement and some of us played games upstairs (Tapped Four and Really Loud Librarians are the new hits). Great night! Thanks to all my friends for making this one of my favorite days of the year!

We have some exciting Bistro news to share. Today we wrapped up filming with Keith Famie for his documentary “Detroit: The City of Chefs”. I’m honored to even be mentioned in this group of top-notch chefs. Many of the chefs, including Rick Halberg and Mary Brady have been my mentors for years, and a few more were my educators at Schoolcraft College. Keith says I might make the cut for the next trailer he produces so keep your eyes open for me! Here’s a link to the current trailer. https://detroitcityofchefs.com/#trailer and a bit about the film https://detroitcityofchefs.com/prod/231107_Baldwin-Halberg-Juergens.html

We’re super excited to be involved in anything that highlights the “good” in Detroit and its surrounding neighborhoods. Thanks to Keith and his crew for including the Bistro. Thanks to my guys for supporting me in the kitchen and making us look GOOD! Rumor has it we might see the film hit PBS and the local Novi Imagine Theatre this fall. I can still hear Don LaFontaine’s deep voice over the trailers “Coming soon to a theatre near you…”

Cheers,
Sharon
