New restaurant alert… Oak Parker. This tiny bar and gastro pub in Oak Park has only been open for about 6 months. I like it because it felt original, young, artsy and fun. All the things I want to be! Haha… The menu is small, and they seem to specialize in Schnitzel?!?! We had the vegetarian version. But what I liked best was that all the food was very fresh. The greens were bright and the cucumbers snappy. I also loved the unique cocktails as did my girlfriends. It was a great afternoon catching up with old friends from high school.  

I know it’s a little early to think about St Patrick’s Day (March 17th) but since we’re closed Sunday I wanted to give you a heads up for our plans. We will be serving our traditional Irish fare Friday and Saturday here at the Bistro. But for those of you who can’t live without our corned beef and cabbage on Sunday, we will be packing up Irish Dinner for Two To-Go Saturday night. Corned Beef with Broth, Braised Cabbage, Potatoes & Horseradish Sauce will come with heating instructions. Please call the Bistro anytime before Friday to reserve your Irish Dinner To-Go. You’ll pick it up cold on Saturday anytime and reheat at home on St Patty’s Day. Instead of our usual complimentary salad you’ll receive 2 cans of Guinness. $54… we always appreciate cash, but credit cards are accepted. Place your To-Go order by Thursday the 14th to guarantee your St. Patty’s meal.
