I’m headed out of town next week and it will be the first Easter I’ve not celebrated with my mom, Sandra. My sister, Christine, and I are visiting our sister Karen, in Scotland. Mom decided to let us girls have a sister’s trip so she’s sitting this one out. My family is a hodge podge of religion and beliefs but is always filled with love, respect, great food, and wine. Whether you are Jewish, Catholic or Agnostic you are welcome at my table. I guess the only rule is you must love dogs because Brisket always joins us after our meal to sit at the table and converse. She’s rather brilliant after all. 

I’ve been hosting Easter brunch at my home in Royal Oak for the last few years. I’ve done everything from traditional quiche to spicy Korean fried chicken & ginger waffles (that was my favorite) … so I’m looking forward to celebrating with my sisters in Scotland. I think lamb and spinach pie will be on our menu and I’m hoping for an Easter Egg Hunt.


I’m fortunate enough to celebrate Passover as well with my husband’s family. We usually gather around his cousin’s large family, but my favorite Seder was when it was just Michael, his dad and myself. My brisket being the star of the night… this time it was an actual brisket, not my dog.
Whatever you choose to celebrate, or not, I hope this Spring brings you joy and peace.
