And, Another Fine Week it has Been,

As year one of re-opening 100% comes to a close we are firmly settled into our “new normal” groove. I think it has drifted into the right direction. Taking reservations has been such an auspicious decision for us and for you. Alida has borne the brunt of that learning curve but has passed the test with an A plus. And, we will remain closed on Sunday and Mondays. It has been one of the most positive “light bulbs” Sharon and I have had in the era of Covid. We decided to go to a 5 day a week schedule with the first re-opening and it has been very positive for us and our team. We are all grateful to have 2 days in a row off and one of them a weekend day with our families. Another perk for me is that I get to spend “time alone” in the Bistro to do orders and hang-out with my wonderful memories of 30 years in Novi.  It is spooky with all the moans and groans of an empty building. Any of us who have been alone in the Bistro agree that there are resident Ghosts…

The week has been great. I had some fun time with my family and friends. I had 2 nice visits with my nephews who were in town and got to catch up on their lives, hopes and dreams. Also spoke with my niece Maddy, the new mother of twins, bringing her and Matt’s flock to 5. It has not been an easy road as Rhodes and Chloe were premies and thus had an extended hospital stay. But all is moving in the right direction. The brothers are very interested in their little sister. Having a girl is really a point of interest. And, my dear friend, Patty Kelly, sent me a picture of her and Mike’s new guy, Scout, a gorgeous black lab puppy. Now I’m getting updates nearly daily. They have their hands full but love it. I often think that I’ll get another “baby” dog when I am able to be home more. I think the bringing Maddy and Sofia into my family when Niki and Pico were old, 14 and 15, gave all of them a breath of new life. Ponies are good. Z and I are riding in an intense clinic this weekend. We will both be pooped when it is over.

Molly, Phil and I went to see Elvis on Sunday. It was very, very good. I’m sure there will be some awards. Tom Hanks was so devious as the Colonel that I had an instantaneous hate for him. He took Elvis down a road of personal destruction for his own good, with no regrets. Really sad. I would say it is very worth seeing. A few weeks ago we had another nice Sunday together seeing Mean Girls at the Fisher. It was fantastic, but for me the best part was seeing Iain Young on stage. Iain’s parents came to the “old Bistro-by-the-movies” with Iain as an infant. So, I’ve been able to watch him grow into a man but also a talented actor. How fun. I kept pointing him out to Phil and Mol, “there he is.” And, better yet, Sharon was at the show a week before with her mom and sister and he was moved into a leading role for that performance.

Ringo is 82 today, where does time go? He wants us all to wish him Happy Birthday with a cry-out for Peace. Right on Ringo.

Sharon and Crew have some Awesome Chalkboard Features.
