Welcome to the Bistro!

And, another fine week it has been. I begin with these words gratefully. I am truly blessed in my life with a close knit family, my pups and horses, an incredible group of people who I’m honored to work beside and all of you who grace us with your presence.  We would not be where we are 62 years later without those who have walked through our doors many times or for the first time. The staff loyalty rivals yours. Because of both I consider myself a very Lucky Girl.

Last Sunday I walked the Milford Memories show, a totally anonymity for me as I really dislike crowds and am purging my house instead of buying. But some of the girls from work were meeting early and I had a good time doing a quick brose.  I found a great ceramic Christmas tree that will allow me to dispose of my way- to-big and bulky ones that I pull out each year. They are in pristine condition so I know someone will enjoy them this holiday as they’ll go to some charity.  As a bonus I’m able to use it in the garden during the summer. Mom and I saw The Secret Lives of Pets last night and if you’re an animal lover I’d highly recommend it. I wonder what Niki and Pico do when I’m gone and they’re home alone???

It is hard to believe that summer is drawing to a close. I think that I read, or heard, that this is the warmest few months that Michigan has ever experienced. I know that it’s been a challenge to keep the Bistro cool. With the open kitchen throwing out millions of Btu’s of heat and the patio doors opening and closing, letting in the 90 degrees to air conditioning, we’ve had a struggle. Sharon and I are exploring adding an additional unit to the roof. It is a process with air testing and balancing and coordinating cranes and HVAC experts. As you may imagine there is a huge price tag. One that we are ready to take on for everyone’s comfort – summer and winter.

If you’re going to the Dream Cruise this weekend remember us on the way home or way out. Sharon and crew have some great Chalkboard Features. For Starters try the Wedge of Warm Brie With Fruit and Crostini or Buffalo Shrimp served with a Celery Salad and Blue Cheese Dipping Sauce. Sautéed Lake Superior Perch is Accompanied with Roasted Garlic Mashers & Lemon Butter Sauce; A Wagyu Beef and Buffalo Burger is Topped with Aged White Cheddar, Vine Ripe Tomatoes and Arugula on a Grilled Pretzel Roll; Indian Seafood Stew chock full of Scallops, Shrimp & Lobster is Seasoned with Garam Masala and Served over Jasmine Rice and The Chicken Turnover has Poached Chicken Breast, Artichoke, Spinach and Brie Cheese wrapped in Puff Pastry and Served with a Roasted Red Pepper and Olive Salad. YUM!!!

WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU AT THE BISTRO!!
