WELCOME TO THE BISTRO!!!

And, another fine week it has been!!! The Easter weekend weather could not have been better. I had a couple great rides on Z and spent some quality time with the pups trekking a little further each walk. We are up to 3 miles, which we do in under an hour. They’re always raring to go. I’ve seen the first frogs and turtles sunning at the pond and love the song birds banter back and forth and the “peep’s” chatter at night. The gardens are bursting with all kinds of green buds popping up. Spring is in full force!!

Easter morning I met my nephew Jim and his daughters Genny and Addy at the barn to meet Picasso and Zeizo. They live in Arkansas and were in visiting Tom’s sister, Jim’s mom, Colleen and the rest of the gang. The girls started riding dressage a year ago and I was thrilled to have them help groom both horses and to ride Z. He is so darn reliable with anyone on his back, from 5 to 85.  I look forward to having them when they visit again and to hear about their riding adventures. There is nothing quite like watching a young person ride. They have no fear and move beautifully along with the horse.  Picasso and Z were in their glory enjoying hugs and treats.  Later in the day was dinner at my sister-in-law Deb’s along with her siblings and nieces and nephews, aunts, cousins and friends to boot. We totaled 30 at least, everyone brought a dish and the afternoon was gloriously sunny. The guys played pick-up football, the girls chatted away. Fun was had by all.

Thankfully the rain held off until darkness fell and daytime festivities over.  The lightning show that accompanied the down pour was magnificent. I love to sit on my porch and take in the excitement of the lighting bolts. Interestingly a single bolt can reach 50,000 degrees and strike the earth nearly 100 times a second. Lighting always accompanies a thunderstorm, although the storm may be so far off that we don’t see the rain or hear thunder. Lighting is attracted to the positively charged ground and most likely to strike the tallest object in the area. Don’t believe the myth that “lighting never strikes twice,” as many flashes strike over and over again within a few seconds in the same area. Good news…the chance of being stuck by lighting is about one in 3 million. Bad news… over 10,000 forest fires are set by lightning each year.

The Knights of Columbus just celebrated their 134th  named anniversary and is named after Christopher Columbus who brought the Catholic faith to the New World. Over the years the Knights have donated more than 1.5 billion to charity, over half of that to developmentally disabled persons. And given countless hours of humanitarian service. Let us all and always remember that It is in Giving that we Receive. It doesn’t matter how much or why. It is not only personally gratifying but makes for a better world –

CHALKBORD FEATURES are awesome per se. Buffalo Shrimp, an all-time favorite, is back! Florida Rock Shrimp tossed in a lightly spiced batter, Fried and Served with Blue Cheese Dipping Sauce; Grilled Lollipop Lamb Chops with Roasted Eggplant, Orzo and Red Zinfandel Reduction; Lake Superior Perch served over Buttermilk Mashers and Drizzled with Lemon Butter Sauce; Vegetarian White Pizza topped with Mozzarella, Roasted Garlic and Cauliflower, Caramelized Onion & Pinenuts; and lastly Seared Ahi Tuna over Almond Brown Rice with a Citrus Soy Glaze. YUM!!!

We Look Forward To Seeing You At The Bistro!
And Wish You A Million Dollar Day!!!
(no Fooling)
