Mary's blog and Sharon's chalkboard features  -  April 28, 2017

And, another fine week it has been!!! Business is bustling and it is always nice to visit with you. I particularly enjoy all the positive feedback that comes my way. While shopping yesterday I ran into a “regular” who told me how much she and her husband love the vibe of our Bistro. Not only the great food but the caring service and comradely amongst the staff and the great atmosphere. I used to get embarrassed, or, maybe could not accept the compliments graciously.  I wasn’t sure 8 years ago that I’d be able to keep it going and then given a 30 day notice to vacate 6 years ago hit a wall. As fortune would have it, just as I was ready to throw in the towel, Sharon and I re-connected and then “voila” the space we now occupy “miraculously” became available. I certainly could not and would not have done it alone.  Sharon and I have transitioned into a very similar “Tom and Mary”  management style.  I know that everything happens for a reason and I’m sure Tom has lead us down the path we now follow and are so thankful for.

I’m a LKY-GRL!!!

Wow, what a storm last night. The rain drops started  as I hit the driveway and I barley got the pups out for their last potty call before the deluge came. As is usual for me I’ll sit on outside porch and watch the lightning and listen to the thunder. It went on for at least an hour. Niki and Pico were on my lap enjoying the show with me.  Thanks to all the rain I have already mowed my lawn and it is ready to be done again. Each spring I think I’ll hire a service to cut and trim but I really enjoy my time each week doing it myself. It gives me a chance to see what is going on around my yard. And, is good exercise to boot. I don’t listen to music, just dig enjoying the scenery and the peepers singing in chorus. For some reason this year there are lots of turtles crossing my road from one wetland to the next. I’ve already “rescued” a painted and snapper moving them to safety from car traffic. The paints are easy to pick-up, snappers not so much. But each is now with their buds sunning away.  Picasso and Z have had a couple glorious days in the pasture and are appropriately mud caked. Grooming takes twice as long and both are due for a deep clean bath and a “beauty shop” session: tails cut, manes pulled; beards, hock feathers and bridle paths trimmed and, a good all-over, end of the winter sprucing up. If my sister Liz and niece Katie work with me it will still be a half day ordeal. Then, there is the tack. Bridles, saddles, girths  to clean and shine and all the cold weather clothes that need to be bundled up for the horse cleaners. I love it – great one on one time with my horsies.

Remember, we are taking reservations for Mother’s Day with the last seating at 4. Sharon and I are working on the summer menu and promise that Gazpacho will be back sooner rather than later. Thanks too for the great amount of pet food over the last few weeks! It is appreciated.

Chalkboard features are awesome Per Se! For Starters  ½ #  of Fried Clam Strips—always a favorite. Salad Bowls are Trending and ours is Full of Edamame, Radishes, Spring Onion, Carrot Ribbons, Spinach and Mint with a Miso Dressing; Bistro Plates --- Sautéed Lake Superior Perch; Barramundi A.K.A. European Sea Bass, mild and sweet over Parmesan Polenta with a Michigan Morel Mushroom Sauce and a One Pound Bone-In Rib Eye Grilled and served with House Made B-54 Steak Sauce, and a loaded Twice Baked Potato. Yum.

MANY WISHES FOR MANY MILLION DOLLAR DAYS!!

XO, MARY, NIKI, PICO, Z AND PICOSSO
