And, another fine week it has been. Business continues to be very encouraging. Even with the sweltering weather the patios have been. It is so great to see business travelers once again. It is really a “shot in the arm” on weekdays. Sometimes I’m amazed at how busy we are considering the road construction that is going on everywhere. It now takes me 40 minutes to get to work, double the time. There is no easy way to bypass the orange cones. It will certainly be interesting with Milford Memories around the corner as both east and west on ramps are closed at Milford road. I am dreading those 3 days. Inflation continues to take its toll. Everything that comes through the door is easily 3x what it was before Covid. And the lack of products that we’ve used for years is discouraging.  As an example we’ve had to substitute many of our proteins for different brands. They are still good, but, bottom line, we don’t have the choices we once did. Linen continues to be a problem to get on a consistent basis because the company is so short staffed. Produce has sky-rocketed and paper products have more than doubled. We opt to still use the aluminum carry-out boxes versus Styrofoam because they are recyclable and brown craft bags instead of the plastic sacks. I shudder with the thought of them going up anymore as we’ll have to find something more reasonable and not as nice. I’m not complaining, it wouldn’t help; just keeping you, the best customers ever, informed as to why some things have changed and to be aware that other’s may. One thing that will never alter though is using the best quality products we can possible find and providing them to you at a fair price.

53 Years ago the Apollo 11 Space Mission (July 16-24) launched into history. Yesterday, the 21st, Commander Neil Armstrong, was the first person to step on the moon, followed minutes later by the lunar module unit, “Eagle” piolet Buzz Aldrin. They were on the moon for nearly 22 hours before joining the Command Unit the “Columbia.” All these years later it is still mind boggling to fathom the knowledge and strength it took many, many people to make it happen. “One Step for Man, a Giant Leap for Mankind.”

Hello Mary, I have dined at your restaurant for a number of years. My dining experiences have always been most pleasant. I worry that you worry too much. Let me explain, nobody wants to pay too much, but most people understand the present-day economics of just dealing with life. If you try to reduce costs and take the glamor out of the DJB dining experience, we all lose. Keep the paper bags, keep the takeout containers, keep the linen, and most important, keep up the great work. We can afford to pay more. Yes, we can.!
