Welcome to the Bistro!

And, another fine week it has been…
Wow, the storms have been incredible. I sure love a good lightning show. The horses are thrilled as they watch the grass “grow” before their very eyes. Pups come in soaked to the bone after doing their “business” and haven’t had much outside time. Maddie is a “princess” and totally dislikes getting her tootsies wet. She is also terrified of the thunder. Niki was the same in her younger days but now doesn’t even flinch and, she loves wet grass as that means her tummy and paws will get a gentle toweling off.  Life is good for my furry buds.

The Bistro has been hopping with the Battery Show in town at the Suburban Marketplace. I’m not sure how many batteries there can be for sale but thankfully, for us, there are lots of vendors in town.  It has been crazy busy and my kitchen was awesome and cranked out beautiful food. And the front-of-the-house was incredible with their service.  We were staffed adequately but it is still hard to “get it out” when we’re overflowing due to the “physical plant.”  The kitchen is small, the bar is small…we do well with what we have. Better than well. A huge kudo’s to the incredible people who work beside and with us every day. Sharon and I are so thankful. And, even though it is nice to meet new guests, it’s you who have supported us through the thick and thin that we are most appreciative of. Many heartfelt thanks!

Tonight, Friday the 13th , you’ll be able to see the glow of the Harvest Full Moon. The last time that the Harvest Moon fell on a Friday and the 13th was in October of 2000 and won’t happen again till august 2049. A Harvest Moon is the full moon that occurs closest to the autumnal equinox, or first day of fall, a week from Monday. Full moons are said to affect behavior, not in a positive manner, so with it falling on the 13th is a double whammy. Be careful out there!
Sharon and crew have some awesome Chalkboard Features Per Se!  Bistro Plates include PACIFIC ROCKFISH: Similar to Sea Bass, Roasted and Served over Mushroom Risotto with Crispy Carrot Ribbons and Basil butter Sauce; BONELESS BEEF SHORT RIBS: Slowly Braised in a Rich Stock, Mirepoix and Coca-Cola, Presented with Mashed Sweet Potatoes, Wilted Swiss Chard and Michigan Corn; PARMESAN DUSTED SEA SCALLOPS: Seared to Golden, Oven Finished and Accompanied with Soft Polenta, Oregano-Garlic Grilled Zucchini, Radicchio and a Dollop of Zippy Italian Style Tomato Relish; RICOTTA RAVIOLI: Tossed with Applewood Smoked Bacon, Peas, Asparagus, Garlic, Parmesan and a Hint of Cream.
