And another fine week it has been!!!   Niki and Pico are digging being outside with me as I work in the garden. Pico still thinks that he’s going to catch a squirrel or chipmunk. Not a chance! I swear they tease him on purpose. Ziezo and Picasso are getting fat and sassy on all the beautiful grass in the paddocks. My niece Katie now rides Picasso and is planning on showing him this summer as a jumper. He is transitioning his “career” at 19 from being a dressage horse to having the time of his life with a 16 year old loving the heck out of him. Not that I didn’t or still don’t but it’s just different somehow having a teenager as his primary rider. Z and I will do our first show mid-June and are training steadily. He is a great teacher and I’m a working student that adores her school master.  Girls and Their Horses!!

We are in the midst of tornado season in Michigan as they occur most frequently from April until July between 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Typically they are on the ground less than 10 minutes and travel about 5 miles. We average 16 per year. They strike with little warning but some tell tale signs are dark greenish skies, large hail, dark rotating low clouds and a loud train-like roar. A tornado watch indicates that conditions are favorable for a tornado to develop. Move cars inside, listen to local radio and TV stations for updated storm information. A tornado warning means a tornado has been spotted or is on radar in your area. Danger is imminent and take cover immediately. The safest place to be is in a basement but if this is not an option take cover in the central part of the house away from windows. In a building interior stairwells are the best and at the lowest level you can get to. If your in a car abandon the vehicle and seek structure in a sturdy structure or in the nearest ditch lying face down as far away from trees or vehicles. After the tornado stay put. Seek help for injuries, be wary of downed power lines and gas leaks.

Saturday is Armed Forces day which is traditionally celebrated on the third Saturday in May. It is a day to pay tribute to all who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Much honor goes to those who are in uniform today and the men and woman who have served in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard.  THANKS TO ALL!!

Yeah, Gazpacho is back!! A refreshing cool summertime soup which hails from the Andalusia region of Spain it is made with a mixture of tomatoes, bell peppers, onion, celery and cucumber. Oh, don’t forget the garlic and touch of olive oil. It has been on the Brady menu since 7 mile and has always been a hit. I can make a meal out of a big bowl with a piece of crusty baguette. The Chalkboard Features are outstanding too. Lake Perch is sautéed and served with a Brown Rice- Fresh Pea Pilaf and Lemon Butter Sauce; Steve’s Favorite Foot Long Wagu Beef Hot Dog topped with Gruyere Cheese, Grilled Onions and Grainy French Mustard; Sushi Grade Ahi Tuna seared Rare, Presented over Udon Noodles with Shitake Miso Broth and Fresh Daikon Radish Sprouts; Shrimp Banh Mi Tacos filled with Gulf Shrimp Drizzled with a Spicy Coconut Peanut Sauce then topped with a Cabbage, Carrot, Cucumber & Cilantro Slaw and for Dessert Apple Crisp with Guernsey Vanilla.  YUM!!

We have Sangria on for the summer too. Remember this soon to be famous saying:  “Whether You See Your Glass ½ Full or ½ Empty it Doesn’t Matter, You Did NOT Pour Enough Wine to Begin With. Start Over!”

AS ALWAYS WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU AT THE BISTRO AND WISH THAT ALL YOUR DAYS ARE MILLION DOLLAR ONES!!

XO, MARY
