Welcome to the Bistro

And, another fine week it has been. The sun today is glorious and inviting although the temperatures very low.  I can’t wait for the “spring forward” on Sunday. We’re moving in the right direction – more daylight hours, yeah! The practice of advancing the clocks forward in spring was first implemented in 1916 by Germany and Austria-Hungary to help conserve energy during wartime. Most of Europe soon followed suit and the US implemented Daylight Saving Time (DST) in 1918. After WW1 it was used sporadically until the 70’s energy crisis when it was re-introduced. DST is considered controversial now as our energy habits have changed, for the better, since it was first used.  Remember to move those clocks forward one hour before going to bed Saturday night. It is also a good time to change batteries on smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. I’m on it!

Niki and Pico are getting restless being housebound on cold days like this. There is a lot of “crazy dog syndrome” going on in my abode right now. All of a sudden one, or both, will start running back and forth, full tilt boogie, for two or three minutes. Rugs go flying, barking ensues and I encourage them with “go for it’s.”  I would liken it to dogs on Red Bull. In time they’ll settle down and life is good once again.   Then there is my big baby-boy Picasso. Walking a horse out to the paddock on ice is treacherous. He is fairly sure footed but with metal shoes on its slippery. When he finally is in the pasture he’s got “crazy horse syndrome” and gallops, bucks and gets his ya-ya’s out. We’ll all be glad to see the ice and snow go bye-bye!

Remember Happy Hour Sunday through Thursday, 3 o’clock to 6 o’clock. Rules are: $2 off Everything, drinks and food; IN THE BAR AT HI-HATS, SOUTH PATIO OR AT THE BAR ITSELF!!

Don’t forget us for lunch, served until 4. We’ve got smaller portions of many of your favorites and great specials everyday too. Come in for your business lunch or to have a relaxing visit with friends or family.

The Pet Pantry is EMPTY as Meals on Wheels did a food pick-up this week. We’re feeding lots a cats and dogs with your generous donations. Thanks!

Chalkboard features are wonderful once again: My favorite STARTER, Meat Butter AKA Chicken Liver Pate flavored with Cognac is back, YEAH; Grilled Swordfish Presented with a Tomato-Eggplant-Navy Bean-Red Pepper Ragout; Paul’s Pot Pie Chock Full of Organic Poached Chicken, Carrots, Onion, Celery, Peas and Carrots in a rich Veloute topped with a puff pastry hat ; Pecan Crusted Walleye and a Grilled Turkey on Rye with Cheddar, Grilled onion and House Made Brown Ale Mustard. YUM!!

Sad Food News Though – Due to weather Mussels are not available at this time.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU AT THE BISTRO!

MAKE EVERY DAY A MILLION DOLLAR ONE!

XXOO, MARY
