Greetings from the Bistro!
December 10, 2021
And, Another Fine Week It Has Been...

It has been a busy week at the Bistro. I am so glad to see, every day, someone who has been reluctant to venture into a public space trust us enough to come in for a visit. And, on another note, miss so many that still don’t want to eat out. We miss you and understand your concerns to be “in the public.” Our “regulars” are our back-bone and are truly loved. You are what make this the “cheers” of Novi. We still continue to be #1 on the social media sites and are proud of it. I’m not saying that everything is champagne and roses. It is not. It is still very, very difficult to work in Covid times. Our team has decided to wear masks again as a precaution for ourselves and you considering the current conditions. For myself, I have been, until 2 weeks ago, free and non-concerned about masking up. Now, I do everywhere. I detest it. I HATE COVID and want to go back to normal times. Will it happen? I certainly pray it will and that soon we’ll be able to enjoy our former normal lives. Although, I would guess that our “normal”  will evolve into a new evolved way of life that we will become accustomed to without even knowing that we are doing so. In the meantime  my pups and ponies are keeping me grounded through thick and thin. Had an amazing ride on Z today, he’s such a great teacher. I can be having the worse day and get on his back and it all goes away. I need to pay him therapy fees. The same goes for Kos but I have to be on a different alert level riding a big moving young horse. He is a young Z and very trustworthy but boy, what a work-out for me. No complaints, it is fun and a challenge to ride both but in different ways. I can’t go to la-la land but can forget everything other than riding the horse that I’m on in the moment. What a gift. And, of course Maddie and Sophia are incredible companions. Maddie is 10 on Saturday. What a gift to have them. I am a lucky girl.

Yesterday I listened, when I could, to Mitch Albom’s 15 hour Radiothon fundraiser for Say Detroit. He spearheaded the effort and raised 1.65 million dollars which will go to assist Detroit’s most vulnerable: Seniors, First Responders, Children and the Homeless. How incredibly amazing that in the middle of a pandemic with jobless rates soaring this much money was collected. How generous Michigander’s are. Detroit is rated the #2 city in the nation for poverty. Poverty is considered less than $21,000.00 dollars income for a family of 4. FOUR!!! In Metro Detroit 15% of people face food insecurity, 33% are children and 10% are seniors. One in four children live in poverty, the unemployment rate is double the national average and well over a third of working households do not earn enough to cover basic survival needs. God love you Mitch for all you do for Detroit’s most needy.

As always my gratitude abounds for my great family, friends, co-workers and those of you who are so supportive of me, Sharon and our staff. Our doors are open and bills paid thanks to you. We can’t express our appreciation enough.

Sharon and crew have some great Chalkboard Features starting tonight.
